Amy's Scandinavian Style Musings: Danish chairs feel right at home in Miami
This week I'm going to highlight one of my favorite pieces of Danish furniture from our collection: The Spanish Chair by Børge Morgensen.
Designed in 1958 for the Danish design house Fredericia, there is no place more perfect for the Spanish Chair than Miami's beautiful community of Coral Gables. The piece was inspired by one of Morgensen's trips to Andalusia, Spain, so fits right in amidst the neighborhood's elegant "Old Spanish" historic architecture with its white stucco walls, hand-painted tiles, and orchid filled courtyards.
The Spanish Chair features beautiful leather that softens and patinas over time, accented by gorgeous brass buckles (there's nothing like a bit of metal and shine to add a touch of glamour!). I especially love the Spanish chair styled as a pair alongside a sofa. Or, it can live happily on it's own like in the living space pictured below, designed by the talented London based firm Studio Ashby.
To my great delight, Fredericia also makes a dining chair version of this chair. In the Coral Gables home of my dreams . . . this is the dining chair that I would use to perfectly complement the old terracotta tile floors.
We warmly invite you to stop by our Miami showroom to see the Spanish Chair and our collection of Scandinavian lighting, furniture, and decor curated especially for Miami and Latin American living!
