Meet the Founders
Matthew Aho and Amy Larson first met in Miami shortly after moving there post-pandemic. They became fast friends, and as they each furnished their new apartments, they realized how few Scandinavian design pieces were available in the city. They dreamed of a shop where people could experience the joy, practicality, and minimal beauty of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
Amy, an interior designer at a busy firm, saw firsthand how design teams longed to discover inspiring new brands and products but never had time to travel or search for them. She wanted to create a one-stop shop for interior designers—a place to shop a soulful collection of Nordic design, a place to find something truly special. Amy travels across Scandinavia, visiting furniture factories and design showrooms, curating a collection she loves to share with anyone looking for something special. Amy is originally from Montana with Danish and Norwegian family heritage.
Matthew, a Finnish-American with deep trade experience across the Americas, built the foundations of the business. He has worked tirelessly to develop Nørdikka’s logistics and shipping program to reach even the most challenging destinations. He also spends his summers at the Scandinavian-style lake house he built by hand during the pandemic, which continues to inspire his love for Nordic design.
Together, Matthew and Amy look forward to welcoming you to their new Miami showroom this winter, or twice yearly at the High Point Market in North Carolina, where visitors can step inside and experience the warmth, quality, and “hygge” of true Scandinavian design.
Scandinavian Design
People from Scandinavia and the Nordics self-report higher levels of happiness with their lives than than anywhere else on Earth. Despite cloudy, wet summers and long, cold winters, many there find contentment most of us only search for.
Nørdikka Collective's founders believe that making intentional choices about the objects that surround us—their beauty, longevity, and functionality—can improve our daily lives.
Our collection features classic pieces by iconic mid-century designers, alongside work by the region's emerging talent. What unites them is a timeless pursuit of design perfection: form follows function; beauty in minimalism; quality is luxury; and longevity is sustainability.
Our Community
The term "Scandinavian" design isn't just about objects, but rather the philosophies and values those objects represent.
We're passionate about design and we sell only originals and products of the highest quality, beauty, and durability. Our partners revere environmental stewardship, value human-centered manufacturing, and work to preserve their cultures' design heritage for future generations.
We firmly believe that beautiful design can improve our daily lives and that making intentional choices about what we bring into our homes can contribute to our over all well-being.
