Introducing Astep: Statement Lighting for Modern Living
"Meet our newest lighting brand, Astep. When I encountered the Astep flagship store in Copenhagen, I was totally stunned by the scale and gorgeous designs of the Astep collections. I love the VV Cinquanta collection, with it's angular designs and moveable shades. I recommend them to anyone looking for stunning statement lighting. The VV Cinquanta wall lamp can be arranged so that both of the shades illuminate different things. Try pointing one shade at a corner (hello lighting drama!!) and the other at a piece of art or decorative object. I also love the VV Cinquanta floor lamp from the same collection. It looks fabulous next to the soft curves of an armchair, like the Dagmar Clam Chair or a Finn Juhl Pelican chair. No matter where you place it, it's sure to make a statement."

Astep is not just another lighting brand; it’s a continuation of a family legacy. Built on three generations of design, Astep blends timeless innovation with modern technology and Scandinavian inspired design to create products that are substantial, meaningful, and forward-thinking."We must work in all directions, and in each one find a small amount of innovation," Riccardo Sarfatti once said. This philosophy captures the essence of evolution—each step forward, no matter how small, is valuable as long as it moves us closer to something meaningful and relevant. This mindset is the foundation of Astep, a design company that honors its rich heritage while embracing the future.
The Foundation of Astep
Astep’s name signifies an ongoing journey toward improvement. The company draws on the knowledge and experience passed down through generations, merging the past’s iconic designs with the possibilities of the future. Astep is committed to creating products that stand the test of time, bridging history with modernity to shape the future of design.
A Legacy of Innovation
Astep’s story begins in 1939 with Gino Sarfatti, who founded Arteluce, the first company to introduce design to the lighting industry. Later, in 1978, Riccardo Sarfatti, alongside his wife Sandra Severi and architect Paolo Rizzatto, co-founded Luceplan, which combined design with cutting-edge technology and innovative business models.
Both Arteluce and Luceplan have produced timeless, iconic luminaires that remain influential today. These designs embody the spirit of innovation, blending beauty with functionality, and shaping the way we experience lighting.
